As a Northerner, I didn’t grow up on fried chicken. My fried chicken experience consisted of the extra crispy bucket from Kentucky Fried Chicken, so I’m no connoisseur. But, I know many of you Southerners are and I have new dish for
you to try. It’s Chef Darrell Rice’s family recipe at Tavern 99…and did I mention, it’s quite the DEAL?! Every Thursday night starting at 5 p.m. at Tavern 99 in Buckhead, Chef Darrell is offering Cornflake Fried Chicken, a Side Salad, Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens for just $12. But it’s only while supplies last. Chef Darrell grew up on a Southern Georgia farm and his fried chicken recipe was passed down from his grandma. He marinates the chicken in buttermilk overnight and uses a special blend of spices to make his original concoction. You just have to try it! And for $12, why not? Plus, when I’m at Tavern 99 I get to watch all my favorite teams on the 12 big screens: the Buffalo Bills, the New York Yankees, the Buffalo Sabres and Syracuse University football and basketball. Alright, I know those aren’t your favorite teams but the Falcons, Braves and UGA are on too! See you Thursday night for some good ol’ Southern fried chicken.
