The Office Holiday Party

We’ve had no shortage of festive fun this holiday season at LLPR. One of the great things about working for a small business is that you get to avoid a lot of the unpleasant stereotypes of the company holiday party. You don’t have to act like you didn’t see the secretary and the accountant making out on top of the copy machine. Or think of talking points that make you seem knowledgeable yet relaxed in case you get five minutes face-to-face with the head honcho. Or wonder if the fact that you had spinach in your teeth while talking to said head honcho will affect your 10-year plan. Instead, we get to relax and enjoy hanging out with the people we work with every day, and actually like!

On Wednesday night, we had our holiday dinner at Barcelona Wine Bar in Inman Park, where we ate just about everything on the menu and decided that the company that shoots tequila together stays together.

On Friday morning, we celebrated our last day of the year together with breakfast from Highland Bakery, and a Secret Non-Denominational Santa gift exchange. Everyone did a great job picking out gifts that the person would love (side note: I think gag gifts are stupid and a total waste of money) within the $20 budget. Here’s the run down:

  • Liz: Billy was her Secret Santa. He got her A New Turn in the South, the cookbook by Top Chef Star Hugh Acheson of Empire State South. He scored bonus points by having it autographed.
  • Traci: Liz was her Secret Santa. She picked out the perfect Urban Decay lip gloss, lauded by New York Times as the best of the year.
  • Billy: He was the luckiest because I was his Secret Santa. Since Billy is our resident beer aficionado, I got him an Urban Growler from Savi Urban Market filled with 64 oz. of Southern Tier 2x IPA. Oh, and some Haribo Happy Cola candy.
  • Leigh: Traci was her Secret Santa… and gave Leigh exactly what she wanted! If you’re an avid Hot Flashes reader (and why wouldn’t you be?), you’ll know that Leigh was hoping for some gloves that would allow her to send texts (naughty or nice) from her iPhone while keeping her gloves on. Traci got her a pair before she even saw the blog. Now that’s impressive!

  • Leigh was my Secret Santa. She gifted me these awesome coasters from Festivity featuring some of my favorite Atlanta landmarks, including the Krog Street tunnel and of course, Clermont Lounge. Thanks, Leigh!

Well, this is the last blog post of 2011. Next time you hear from me I will be fresh off the beach – tan and 26 years old!
