My friend Mike Jordan at Thrillist ran his five favorite date night spots in Atlanta this morning. They are Cardamon Hill, CineBistro, Krog Bar, Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint and Tanta. Although I haven’t been to all of these, I must agree that Krog Bar is one of my favorite spots to grab a drink – whether it’s with a date or with a girlfriend.
It has a small outdoor patio with comfy furniture for warmer nights and inside, it’s cozy and very mellow. Plus it always smells fabulous from the small plates they’re cooking up. So, here are my top 5 bars (in no particular order) in Atlanta:
- Krog Bar
- Livingston Restaurant and Bar – in the Georgian Terrace, I always feel like a 1940’s movie star when I have a drink here
- Six Feet Under – I love to sit on the rooftop deck at either the Grant Park location (you can see Oakland Cemetery) or the West Midtown location (you can see the ATL skyline)
- Chop House – not sure this really counts as a bar, but it’s one of the most fun places to watch the game at Turner Field and as a huge sports fan, for me there’s nothing better than drinking a beer and watching a baseball game on a summer day
- Murphy’s – I love the Virginia Highlands area – it reminds me of a college town without the college, but Murphy’s isn’t a college bar. I always feel like I’m sitting in someone’s personal wine cellar.
