ATLANTA (January 27, 2012) – Atlanta’s most visually-stunning bar now boasts one of the most innovative cocktail programs in the city. Livingston Restaurant + Bar is among the first to introduce barrel-aged cocktails, starting with two of the classics: the Manhattan and the Negroni. Aged for five to seven weeks in whiskey barrels and taste-tested weekly, these cocktails are a hand-crafted labor of love, rich in color and smooth in taste.
“We’re taking our cocktail game to the next level this year,” says Head Mixologist Rob Breen. “Barrel aging is our way of updating the classics, while still respecting the original flavor profiles. These two cocktails have been flying off the shelves, and we’re excited to continue experimenting with different drinks.”
In side-by-side comparisons, the barrel-aged cocktails are much darker and richer in hue than their classic counterparts. Barrel-aging takes away the bite of the drink and allows for a more harmonized flavor to shine through. This creative approach to reinventing classic cocktails reflects the work in kitchen, as Chef Zeb Stevenson has built a strong reputation around his ability to create refined American classics with a modern sensibility. Today, Livingston Restaurant + Bar serves ingenuity both on the plate and in a glass.
