Pinterest is on fire right now. It’s the talk of social media and every woman seems to love it as much as those dang Twilight movies. Guys are even jumping on Pinterest. If you still haven’t joined it and you’re wondering what I’m talking about, read this blog for a quick overview of Pinterest.

With Pinterest growing so quickly, businesses are starting to ask themselves how they can benefit from Pinterest. You may have even noticed some businesses following you lately on Pinterest. Is this a good thing? It depends on who you ask.

As a business, there is no doubt that Pinterest can have a significant impact on referral traffic to your website if you (or your customers) are pinning interesting photos to Pinterest that link back to your website. On the other hand, many Pinterest users hate the idea of businesses plastering boring photos all over Pinterest – basically watering down the content that has made Pinterest so great.

I believe that we can all get along if businesses use the same logic as your typical user. Pin your most interesting content and images and encourage your users to post their favorites. Don’t just use it to promote your business either. Share information relating to your industry that your customers will find inspiring or interesting.
