Straits Atlanta Grand Opening
We launched Straits Restaurant, GRAMMY® award-winning artist and actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges’ East Coast outpost of the San Francisco eatery. While the celebrity press was a given, it was important to establish the restaurant with the media as credible from a culinary standpoint. Our first call was to a writer at Food & Wine magazine, who came down for the opening. It was crucial to wow our writer who, among many journalists, was wary of a celebrity-driven concept. She loved it and wrote the magazine’s second-only feature on an Atlanta restaurant – a 10-page spread in the May 2009 issue. In addition, we received coverage in the New York Times “Style” section – a first for Atlanta – and have been met with great reviews, all of which subscribed to our messaging: an authentic yet modernized interpretation of Singaporean cuisine.
