The Battery at SunTrust Park

This weekend Justin and I headed out to The Battery at SunTrust Park to celebrate the Atlanta Braves season opener against the San Diego Padres. Since our tickets were a Christmas gift, combined the long awaited anticipation of the new home for the Atlanta Braves, we decided to make a day of it. We arrived around lunchtime, got a seat on the patio at Antico and took it all in. Given our early arrival, traffic was light and parking was easy.

We enjoyed the afternoon strolling around the Battery, venturing into the new restaurants like Live! At the Battery, Yard House and the Terrapin Taproom. The gates opened two hours prior to first pitch so we headed in to check out all of the new features.

Three things you need to know:

  • Ladies, check your bag size before you head toward the gates. If it’s bigger than 16 x 16 inces they will not let you bring it in and the walk back to your car is longer than it seems.

  • Not only is Antico serving up the best pizza for miles but it also has a full bar – enjoy a refreshing drink before heading into gates at SunTrust Park.

  • Most of the restaurants and bars stay open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays so don’t rush back to the car to sit in traffic. There is always something going on in the Plaza and if you’re lucky, like we were, you might catch an impromptu concert from T.I.
