January has been busy with lots of events. Last week's customer appreciation party at Corporate Environments was one for the books -- great crowd, awesome entertainment by Yvonne Monet, delicious food and drink by Soiree Catering & Events and the most incredible floral installations - ever - by the one-and-only (needs no introduction!) Keith Robinson.
But the coolest part was that the event was on trend with the hottest thing going right now: sustainability.
What we're hearing from both clients and consumers is a demand that events leave the world better than they found it. That means we are ditching paper and plastic for glass and bamboo. It's succulents over cut flowers that guests can take with them when they go. Carpooling is suggested. And no more paper bags full of corporate brochures. SWAG bags are reusable and full of interesting and useful treats.
And the days of dumping the catered food at the end of the night are also in the rear view. For this one, we partnered with Second Helpings Atlanta to rescue the leftover food. This amazing organization picks up surplus, nutritious, perishable and frozen prepared food from grocery stores, big box retailers, corporate dining halls, hospitals and large events and delivers it to the many front-line agencies in the city that feed the hungry. The food gets diverted from landfills and is used to feed those in need. Win/win!
