With so many Galentine's Day events last week, it was pretty clear that women aren't waiting around for men to celebrate the woman - they're celebrating themselves. And we have plenty to cheer for - 2020 marks 100 years of a woman's right to vote.
So why not paint the town red to pay homage to women?
With more and more women in the workforce, on boards and holding public office, you could say we've come a long way, baby. The key to continuing to make great strides is to get more women in the room where it happens.
So imagine our delight when we were asked to co-chair Lady Locavores on Sunday, March 8, to benefit the Atlanta Community Farmers Markets!
This is one of our favorite events. In its fifth year and in honor of International Women’s Day, the fine folks at CFM made the move to Monday Night Garage - because they outgrew the Trolley Barn. Now they have twice the space for twice the fun!
Lady Locavores celebrates amazing women chefs, farmers and artisans in our community. The food and drinks are provided by a team of female chefs and bartenders, sourced from local female farmers and artisans. There's a great auction featuring products from women-owned businesses, a fabulous photo booth, games and activities.
And in the spirit of celebration, they will honor several women in the local food community with the 2020 Lady Locavores Awards.
Lady Locavores helps CFM fulfill its mission to develop a local food infrastructure for long term sustainability and meaningful community impact. Proceeds from Lady Locavores support CFM’s Chef Educational Outreach Program (all of whom are women).
