Georgia farmer’s markets to return, pop-up style, as farmers struggle (WSBTV)
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, the University of Georgia’s agricultural college, and its networks of farm cooperative extension offices are working to create markets for Georgia produce. The first scheduled pop-up market is scheduled for May 20th in Dalton.

After ten years in Midtown, Ri Ra Irish Pub is closed for good. But don’t blame the COVID-19 pandemic for this closure. The pub temporarily closed in late March due to the dining room shutdown caused by the ongoing pandemic. Eater Atlanta reached out to Ri Ra’s owners after a reader sent in a tip saying the restaurant’s sign, outdoor television, and furniture had recently been removed.
Ford Fry Reopens Marcel and BeetleCat for Dine-In Service Beginning May 18 (Eater Atlanta) Beginning the week of May 18, Ford Fry’s Westside Provisions District steakhouse Marcel and Inman Park seafood bar BeetleCat reopen for dine-in service. JCT Kitchen, The Optimist, and Superica at Battery Atlanta also reopen next week for takeout.
Cookbook of recipes by Alpharetta chefs will benefit charities (AJC) Alpharetta’s restaurants have contributed recipes to a digital cookbook with proceeds benefitting North Fulton Community Charites and The Place of Forsyth County. The two charities provide emergency financial assistance, food, clothing, and other services.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performs special rendition of “Georgia on My Mind” (WSBTV) It’s the official state song of Georgia, and it’s even more fitting today during the coronavirus pandemic. “Georgia on My Mind” has been around for decades and remains a special song to Georgians. But the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performed its version of the classic while practicing social distancing. The ASO released this version on Tuesday to honor the front line workers for International Nurses Day.
Air National Guard to fly over Atlanta, other parts of Georgia to honor health care workers (WSBTV) Many of you are going to be in for a treat as another flyover is planned for Georgia Friday morning. This time, it’s the Georgia Air National Guard’s 165th Airlift Wing that will be in the air. The Commander of the Georgia Air National Guard posted on Facebook that its aircraft will begin its flyover at 10 a.m. The route will hit Ellijay, Gordon County, south over Atlanta to Phoebe Putney Medical Center in Albany, Waycross, Brunswick, and areas around Savannah.
