My Farewell

I think it can go without saying that this summer did not go with the status quo. Instead of pool days, road trips, and endless slushies, the break was filled to the brim with masks, pumps of hand sanitizer, and the dreaded phrase of ‘social distancing.’

No part of this summer was the experience any person asked for -- no child, no college student, no working adult. It was simply a drag. But we have made the most of it.

For myself, my summer consisted of ample learning and engagement for which I am very grateful. Liz Lapidus Public Relations gave me a bit of that true summer experience I was looking forward to before the pandemic. I applied to be an intern in February and was given the most amazing chance to work with these powerful women in the city that has my heart. I geared up for the remainder of my semester in Kentucky and prepared for my summer in Atlanta with LLPR.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 had different plans for me, for LLPR, and for the city of Atlanta. I mean, I am currently writing with whilst dressed in a mask. The new normal. The funny thing is, I would not have wanted it any other way or wanted to work for any other firm. LLPR gave me every opportunity to express my opinions, meet new people, be involved in projects, and write my heart out, all from behind my computer screen. They made it all possible, to the point where I felt as though I was in the office every single morning.

Never did I believe I would have met clients running organizations that are benefiting the city and people of Atlanta in the most positive ways imaginable. Never did I believe I would be involved in decision making with and for these clients. Never did I believe I would even be a published writer on the ‘LLPR Says’ blog, with my own words. It surely blows my mind.

I am grateful for this experience. I want to thank those who welcomed me so well and made me feel as though I was part of the Liz Lapidus Public Relations family.

To Amel and Libby, thank you for all of your teachings and advice. The tips you’ve shared with me are things I will cherish for the rest of my professional days. You both have such amazing hearts and I am so blessed to have had you both as mentors.

To Liz, thank you for trusting me to work for your firm. You run an amazing company that stands for empowerment, acceptance and tenacity, and I am honored to have been a part of it. You are the most incredible boss and I am thankful for the many laughs we have shared.

I will never, EVER forget my time with Liz Lapidus Public Relations, and I will take their philosophies and genuine hearts with me everywhere I go.
