FDA approves first coronavirus at home test (Axios) Tuesday, The Food and Drug Administration announced an issued emergency use authorization for the first COVID-19 rapid result test for self-testing at home. The test developed by Lucira Health is available by prescription only and will cost around $50.

App connects local people to food resources (Atlanta Intown) In an effort to combat food insecurity, the FoodFinder app connects people in need of local food resources. The app has seen a massive spike in demand due to the COVID-19 impact on food insecurity and has connected over 22,600 residents to food assistance.

The Truist Foundation awards local nonprofit (Atlanta Daily World) Purpose Built Communities, a nonprofit that works to improve health outcomes, economic mobility, and racial equity, has been awarded $7 million from the Truist Foundation.


Daffodil Project brings flowers to Chastain Park (Atlanta Jewish Times) Members of Temple Sinai, Am Yisrael Chai, and other local volunteers planted flowers in Chastain park to remember children who died in the Holocaust. The Daffodil Project is an Atlanta based non-profit and spreads memory through flowers in over 230 locations worldwide.


Waffles, Bacon, and Beer (CNN) Waffle House and Georgia based brewery Oconee Brewing Company have teamed up to offer a branded beer called Bacon Kegs. According to the company brew master, the beer is a red ale with hints of bacon extract.

Dunwoody creates outdoor dining grant reimbursement program for restaurants (Eater Atlanta) As winter approaches, the City of Dunwoody plans to financially help restaurants and bars offset costs of weather proofing patios for socially distanced dining experiences.

The plan to bring the two together will ensure Atlanta is attracting new business, creating more jobs, and giving residents access to those jobs.

Amazon becoming the new neighborhood pharmacy (AP News) Amazon has made its arrival in the pharmaceutical space. The announcement of their new online pharmacy made stocks of CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid drop this week.


Atlanta artist explores roots through three dimensional quilts (Atlanta Magazine) Bahamian raised, Atlanta resident Lillian Blades uses inspiration from her African and Caribbean origins to create dimensional quilts. The creations are full of abstract colors and bring viewers to feel like they’re under the sea, viewing a sunset, and in a field all at once.

Science Gallery Atlanta launches video series discussing creativity (Emory) Jericho Brown, director of Emory’s Creative Writing Program, has launched a video series on coping, resilience and discussing the role of creativity in connecting with the world.

Washington Ballet shows the world one way to continue this season (Nonprofit Quarterly) The pandemic has had a significant financial impact for the nonprofit ballet, similar to those worldwide. They have executed a ‘Create in Place’ vision, which splits the dancer into four 10-person pods, each assigned to one production and must pass many health and COVID-19 screenings before performing.
