Why Early Voting Matters Right Now
Georgia is on the minds of many as we head down the final stretch of this long and crazy ride that has been the 2020 election.
Your vote could determine if the U.S. Senate turns blue or red. We have the power to make a change. No matter who you vote for, it's your right as an American. So, get out and vote.
If you're so inclined to donate to the get-out-the-vote cause, there have been countless virtual fundraisers from the cast of "Hamilton" singing holiday songs (Lin-Manuel Miranda's "Feliz Navidad" was everything!) to bake sales (we're obsessed with #BakersAgainstRacism and @BakersAgainstRacism on Insta). The one we're the most excited about RIGHT NOW is “Artists For a New Georgia,” an online art sale benefitting the New Georgia Project Action Fund (NGPAF).
Bidding closes at 1 p.m. TODAY for works by Alex Katz, Cindy Sherman, Marilyn Minter, Laurie Simmons, Mika Rottenberg, José Parlá, KAWS, Deb Kass, Shirin Neshat, Tony Fitzpatrick, Glenn Kaino, Renee Stout and Elizabeth Peyton along with Georgia-based artists including Cosmo Whyte, Jiha Moon, Rocio Rodriguez, Krista Clark, Holly Coulis, Sheila Pree Bright, Davion Alston and Zipporah Thompson.
There are more than 30 works of art and a series of public service announcements about the power of the vote that are on the New Georgia Project’s Instagram channel as well as the artists’ social media platforms.
We firmly believe that art has the power to change the world. And voting matters. Check out these amazing pieces and please consider bidding NOW.
